Day Forty One – November 10, 2010
Looking back 10 years ago today…
The apple and post were about procrastination. Something I struggle with but have actually gotten better at which means I only procrastinate about 50% of the time now – Ha! And, is it really procrastinating if the creativity hasn’t sparked – asking for a friend.
The year of apples taught me so much about myself and gave me so much confidence that I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to and that this annoying disease would NOT take away my drive or search for my purpose and happiness. I’ve had a few detours since that year but every one has added to this moment where I feel I’m finally living a creative life that allows me to be happy and manage the ups and downs of flares and symptoms.
I’m no longer putting off the career of art. I did for so long because I didn’t have the confidence or the timing wasn’t right financially because this is actually the hardest job I’ve ever tried to figure out. There is a reason for the “starving artist” criticism – it’s such an amazing and revered skill/talent but extremely difficult to make enough to feed yourself with it. My lovely husband Doug is such an amazing support, he encourages me to keep at it. My Mom and Dad are the same. I feel very blessed – and one day (not due to procrastination) I will succeed!
