Day Fifteen: Pollock-esque

Wow – kinda crazy – mother nature was playing tricks on me tonight.  Power went out around 5:30pm and didn’t come back on until about 15 minutes ago at around 10:30pm eastern time.  My friend Nate said that acts of nature would have allowed me to double up on posts if I hadn’t been able to get online.  That may happen at some point in the next 365 – ok… 350 days but I’d rather it didn’t happen this early into my endeavor.  Thank goodness I had started my Pollock-esque Apple yesterday.  Hope you like it!

Until tomorrow.

Day Fourteen – A is for Apple

I started a Pollock-esque apple tonight but the paint wouldn’t dry so I had to go plan B!

I love this simple, clean image.  A big storm seems to be headed towards New England… Vinalhaven may need to wait for me until Saturday and then home to Colorado early next week.  I can’t wait to be home with my sweetie, my four legged friends, and all the art supplies in my studio!

Until tomorrow.

Day Eleven – I’m puzzled

Day Eleven and hanging in there.  We all caught a bit of a bug – I think my brother Jason got the worst of it but my niece and nephew, Parker and Beckett seemed to weather the storm no problem.  Parker and I rolled out cookie dough and cut out shapes for close to two hours this afternoon and covered them with frosting and sprinkles – I think she may be another family artist in the making!  Cutting out cookies with the cookie cutters made me start thinking of puzzle pieces and the colors are a nod to Parker’s pallet choices!

Until tomorrow.

Day Ten – Fresh Flesh

It’s fall in New England and the local Maine MacIntosh apples are delicious and abundant.  Today Mom & Dad helped with my apple print.  We cut one in half in a way to make sure it was as “lopsided” as possible and then I coated the cut side with paint.  It took a few prints to find out the right amount of paint to use but I got a good one!  Then I took some beautiful copper, red, and bronze metallic paints and embellished.  The original is so pretty but the metallics don’t translate well to digital.

Until tomorrow.

Day Ten was created with metallic acrylic paint applied to a cut open apple and stamped onto the page.

Day Eight – Spiraling Out Of Control!

Art Apple - Day EightWell – Tonight might have been my first miss but encouragement from Doug and Elizabeth have me posting a very simple almost gesture like drawing.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring some more detail and color.

Until tomorrow.

Day Seven – Up On A Pedestal

Art Apple - Day SevenI guess this sums up where I’m at with my Art Apples.  Drew this in my sketch book and tore it out to scan.  I’m so happy to be home for a visit and I love being in Maine!  Tomorrow we head to Vinalhaven for the weekend for family, wine, and lobster!

Until tomorrow.
