Today is Day 69 of the Art Apple A Day Retrospective – for information on the project click here.
Day Sixty Nine – December 8, 2010
Looking back 10 years ago today…
My original plan was to gift the 365 apples to the Ankylosing Spondylitis community. But there were a few people who were following along my project very closely who were concerned that it wasn’t what I should do and they asked me to finish the year before I decided. I’m glad I still have the entire collection of apples. I think they can help raise money for research in the future but I really want to find a way and a place to show them in their entirety before that happens. I have a vision for this show – 12 blocks/spaces where the apples are set up like the calendar. It would need to be a big space! But what an amazing fundraiser and awareness raiser it would be!!!
That is just one of my future ideas for the AS Apples – I’m also doing one new apple per month during this retrospective and those 12 apples will be a 2022 calendar that will be used as a fundraiser as well. So you see… there continues to be a method to my madness and because of these ideas and fundraisers, not every post here needs to be AS related necessarily – it just needs to be. Because by being… these apples help even in a small way. At least I’d like to think so. And these apples are part of me and my story, and as such are necessarily interconnected.
I do paint blue and orange apples (blue is the disease designated color for the US/Canada and orange in the UK) and those I have given away or used to help raise money. Last October (being Apple Month) I painted 31 new apples that I sold to raise money for the non-profit I founded, Walk AS One. I love that I can do this and know that in the years ahead I will continue to support the various AS charities with my apples!

And the story will continue tomorrow…
I’m glad you still have the apples
Interesting – the time stamp on my comment says 1:28 PM but it is 8:28 AM
