Day Forty Four – November 13, 2010
Looking back 10 years ago today…
I had just received a care package from my Mom. The year of my apples my husband and I lived in Colorado. We moved to Maine in 2013 because I just couldn’t be away from my Mom and Dad and family any longer. Thankfully Doug understood this and agreed to move across the country. It was a very big decision but one both of us, seven years later, are very glad we made. I’m extremely nostalgic as you will see if you read my original post from day 44. Back then I thought it was because I was so far away from family and the culture of New England but now I know that it is because old things ~ especially ones handed down that connect me to family ~ hold a vibration and essence of the people who’ve held them and cherished them.
I definitely feel this in original art or anything made by hand, don’t you? I love some new things and my decorating style is eclectic because all new or all old (in my view) is not real life. But, old or handmade things, ohhhhh (covering my heart with my hands) old and handmade things are magic! I love to surround myself with them. My Mom doesn’t need to post items in a box any longer so I get little surprises from here all the time! She’ll say, “do you want this?” and you’ll never guess what my answer is!
