Day One Twenty One – January 30, 2011

Looking back 10 years ago today…

This is probably my least favorite apple. To me it looks like I just couldn’t focus and was completely out of creative steam. It’s 8pm in the present and I’ve had the completely opposite type of day. On the weekend I try to do weekend like activities… change the sheets on the bed, run errands, water the plants, go do something fun, make a nice meal but this morning I woke up and needed to paint. I’m in the process of painting a very large 3′ x 4′ painting of a Key West House and it has me all consumed and so excited! I had a gloriously creative day and the paint just flowed. I’m almost done with it and the compulsion to get it to its place in the world is very strong. Tomorrow I’ll probably paint as well knowing that I will miss a day in my studio on Thursday because I get my Remicade infusion and perhaps Friday. I have to paint when the energy is right and I’m very fortunate that my husband, Doug understands and we just adjust our schedules.

So… because I am loving my work so much right now, I’m going to attempt to not cringe at this piece. It’s okay. Life is in fact a patchwork of highs and lows and the good and bad. Without the contrast, everything would be gray and that is just not what life should be!
